Shoes

Last night the girls were playing outside on the trampoline, Caitlin's friend Ella was round and they were playing a very bossy-naughty game of schools.
'Come here right now and finish this maths challenge'
'No, I won't because I don't want to'
All the stuff they'd love to say at school but would never dream of saying. Ella went home and the girls came inside. I was quite surprised when I checked outside that the blackboard easel and the paper and pens had been brought inside. Maybe they are learning about looking after their stuff.

This morning, Elsie was looking for her shoes.
'I definitely put them on the shoe rack'
No dear, that's where you usually put them. Just because you usually put them there doesn't mean that if you don't do it, the shoes make their way over there of their own accord, with that innate sense of tidiness that shoes have. Or maybe that's how it seems when I, the shoe fairy, put them there after finding them under the table, by the back door, on the rug, in the bathroom, at the bottom of the stairs...

'Where are your shoes then?'
'I don't know'
Then my Mummy instinct kicked in.
'Are they outside?'
'Oh yes, they are under the trampoline step'

One slightly chilly journey to the trampoline, one cardigan and one pair of shoes rescued.

'Why are my shoes wet?'
'It's the dew'
'What's dew?'
I can't really cope with this question.
'It's the water in the air. Now put your shoes on and let's get going.'
An adequate effort for 8.03am, I thought.
